I think I can safely say one of the best meals I've had in London was at one of Nuno Mendez's earlier Michelin starred restaurants, Viajante. I've never been to the celebrity filled Chiltern Firehouse but have been very excited to try the much less assuming place in Old Spitalfields Market. The food does not disappoint. The portion sizes do however but not for next time... order a bit more! We'd just about caught last orders as a walk-in so didn't have the luxury of time on our hands. We opt for prawn rissoles as a "snack", tinned fish (I think mackerel - note to self... write this a bit more realtime!), skate wing which is served beyond tender, it just melts in the mouth and the cuttlefish with pig's trotters. I'm not usually a "dessert man" but cannot resist try the legendary pao de lo, a deliciously rich soft eggy sponge cake. Miso satisfied!
